“Put Your X Up”
I’m reaching out today in this way to tell my daughter how powerful she is.
She’s walking through something right now, and I want her to know how much I see her.
 How much I trust her.
How deeply I know she’s got this.
This photo is from Get Freaky—the Halloween rave at the Utah State Fairgrounds this past weekend. We went with a big crew from the tribe… but she and I had our own sacred little orbit inside the chaos.
She pulled me aside that first night to tell me how much she trusts me, how she believes in me, and that if she ever offers criticism, it’s only because she loves me and wants to help.
(I waited patiently for the criticism… but it never came. 😄)
We laughed a lot. We cried a little.
And then—when Excision came back out for his encore—she found me in the crowd, took my hand, and we head-banged to the X-Man as he literally blew us away.
Who gets to do things like this with their daughter?
Who gets to have fun, do spiritual things (yes, a rave is deeply spiritual), and stick together through all the ups and downs of life?
Some people—even family—will betray or abandon you.
 But not Amethyst.
She’s got one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever known.
Smart, loyal, funny, sassy—and with excellent taste in music.
Put your X up, kid.
 I got you, always.
But more importantly—you’ve proven, again and again—
 You got this.
Love you forever,
 Dad 🖤
