How is your relationship with your father?
I’m a little late to the Father's Day conversation because that discussion is often complicated.
For some people, memories of their father are warm and sweet, whether he's still here or not.
For others, it's more complicated.
That's me.
I've spent much of my life rejecting everything about my father, only to discover later that there was another path.
I could take the good and make it my own.
I could take the bad and build something better from it.
Either way, there was something valuable to be gained.
I've come to believe there are ways to win no matter what kind of father you had.
But it starts by learning to see him clearly.
Not as a hero.
Not as a villain.
Just as the complicated, flawed, imperfect man he really was.
